Pastor Mike Anderson -- Over the past two weeks, Jesus has called his disciples and sent them out to do the things he has done. He has taught them that all he needed was their trust and obedience, and he would provide for all their other needs. In today’s lesson, Jesus is confronted by the Pharisees. Threatened by Jesus’ ministry and the authority by which he is doing it, they attack him trying to make the case that he is teaching disobedience to the Old Testament Law. They accuse his disciples of not washing their hands before they ate. Jesus uses this as an opportunity to teach them the difference between rules and matters of the heart.
